Prostate Cancer Also Occurs in White Men

by Cancer, For Men, Health Tips

Recently, I had the opportunity to speak to a group of men about prostate cancer. I was told, prior to the lecture, my audience would be primarily black men, but to my surprise, it was comprised of white men.

As the lecture proceeded, a white gentleman asked why I could not use the term “American men,” instead of making the distinction as prostate cancer in black men and white men because we are all the same.

This is a teaching moment for black and white brothers. I explained to him that cancer affects both groups, but it is a far more aggressive cancer and the second leading cause of death
among black men. He did apologize for his minor aggression.

Remember, the annual PSA for men is just as significant as the annual mammogram for women.

Your opinion matters.
