Wives Notice When Men Don’t

It is often a challenge when the physician receives two versions of the medical history of a patient’s illness. The male version, in my experience, is often not as accurate as the version of the significant other.

Recently, one of my patients was experiencing an evolving stroke. He arrived home and his wife noticed his facial drooping and slurred speech and realized that he was having a stroke. She called 911 and he got immediate treatment, preventing permanent disability and maybe, death. She explained to me that she remembered the signs of a stroke discussed by me at an earlier time.

Go to the hospital if she says go.
