by Heart

High blood pressure is increasing worldwide and is a major health issue for African Americans of all ages because they are at a very risk for developing hypertension, especially at a young age. You should have some basic information about this issue if you live in South Carolina and are African American.

Hypertension is a major risk for early stroke, heart attack, and kidney failure. The diagnosis is easily made by having your blood pressure checked when being seen by your health care provider. Your lifestyle can be perfect, but treatment with medications, for an extended period, may be necessary.
